When it comes to iPhone cases, as a reviewer I had a chance to try out almost every imaginable type. From those extra thin silicone ones, and various plastic shells, as well as rugged cases, up to very useful wallet cases, so I’ve got a pretty good idea of what makes a case a functional product. It’s actually not that easy to design and manufacture a case that can protect your phone from all sides, and which also provides you with a great design and some intriguing functionality. Only a few cases can bring this, and this article we’ll tell you more about one of those.
Pad & Quill is a company known for hand-made leather bags and other accessories, and what’s interesting – this company also makes iPhone and iPad cases. All of their products are hand-made and their preferred material is leather, so you can expect some higher prices. We are going to review the Luxury Pocket Book, which is priced at $90.
I was very pleasantly surprised even before I had a chance to review this product, simply by taking a look at its packaging, which is sealed by Pad & Quill’s logo in a real wax seal. It was a clear sign that I’ll get a case that’s made with great attention to details, which turned out to be true. The Luxury Pocket Book is a typical premium-grade folio-style wallet case, which means that you’ll get to see one-piece leather on the outside, with a very quality stitching. You can choose from Dark Chocolate or Whiskey for the exterior leather. On the inside, you’ll get to use three pockets on the left side where you can slide some credit cards, and there’s one large pocket beneath, where you can place some cash. Color of this section is also customizable, so you can choose from Deep Sea Blue, Forest Green, and Slate Gray.
On the right side of its interior you’ll see a wooden cradle for your iPhone. As it turns out, this is handcrafted Baltic birch. Even though it might be unusual to use a wood for a case, there is small soft satin finish around the corners, so it’s very gentle on the iPhone. The case is designed to firmly hold your phone, but you can also easily take it out, so I guess this is the perfect combination when it comes to any iPhone case. Also, there are openings for all buttons and ports.
The one thing that I was concerned with is the elastic strap that keeps this case shut. With many similarly designed cases, this strap can be annoying at times. Luckily, the Luxury Pocket Book comes with a strap that can hold this elastic piece folded behind the device.
There’s really nothing negative to say about this product. It brings premium quality materials, and it’s completely handcrafted. Also, it’s very useful and practical. It’s true that you’ll have to pay premium price for all of these things, but I believe it is well worth it. The only thing that some users might be concerned about is added bulk, but this case is even a bit slimmer than most folio-style leather cases.
